Panasonic upgrades Toughbook CF-19 rugged laptop, boasting greater performance and a new screen technology for easier reading in a variety of lighting conditions.
Available from this month, the CF-19mk5 offers double the performance over the previous model with a 2.5GHz Intel Core i5-2520M processor, 4GB memory and a choice of hard or solid state drive.

The Toughbook line is designed for ruggedness, and the new CF-19 features a magnesium alloy casing, anti-scratch coating, and water, dust, vibration and temperature protection to MIL-STD 810G specifications.

With an eye on workers using the device in the field, Panasonic has equipped the CF-19 with a display rotation button that lets users switch from laptop to tablet mode with just one hand.
The screen also has a dual-touch option, supporting stylus and touch-screen operation, while customers can choose between a chiclet or backlit rubber keyboard.

The system has a standard voltage processor, but Panasonic claims that the CF-19 can operate for up to nine hours, thanks to the Panasonic Power Management Utility.
The new CF-19mk5 is compatible with most existing cradles and car mounts, and can be fitted with a 3G broadband module for wireless connectivity almost anywhere.
Prices start at €2,950 (£2,625), and the system comes with a three-year warranty covering hardware failures.
