The word ‘Cloud’ has been synonymous with Android since its birth, integrated to its core. In recent times, with the launch of free cloud storage services like Dropbox, Google Docs, Picasa and more, it has become quite difficult to manage files stored on the cloud from a mobile.

As storage space is precious in phones as it is, keeping these files in the cloud to have access to them whenever you need them is a real time saver. The only downfall of this method is keeping track of all your cloud services and their respective apps for Android. SanDisk has solved the problem with the SanDisk Memory Zone app, an app that will read and store data from both your internal and external SD cards, as well as various cloud services.
Managing the files on your phone has always been something of a hassle since there is no specific categorization option. Thankfully SanDisk is able to read everything on your phone and divide it up into categories by file extension, no matter which folders the files are located within. The app itself has four categories, including documents, pictures, audio, and apps. Any of the content available on your phone can then be backed up to a number of cloud services.
SanDisk Memory Zone currently supports Dropbox, Box, Picasa, and Google Docs as cloud services. Once added to the app, you will see each service and the storage available on each on the overview screen, allowing you quick access to knowing how much space is available on any of the services. Since both Dropbox and Box feature expandable storage, SanDisk asks for your login information to determine the amount of space you have left.
Backups are perhaps the most important feature offered by the app, as you can choose to sync your contact information and any files to any of the cloud services the application supports. If you’ve ever had to replace a phone, you know how much of a pain it can be to replace all your contacts. For this reason alone, the SanDisk application is a great thing to have.
While Box, Dropbox, and Google Docs all three have their own Android specific applications for managing files, SanDisk manages to combine the management of all of your cloud files into one location, making it a convenient addition to your home screen. It’s possible that SanDisk may even update the app in the future to include other popular cloud services, such as SugarSync and Flickr, making it the one stop shop for people who want to manage their digital files while on the go.
