Sharp Unveil Galapagos Color eBook Reader

Sharp has officially announced 2 new eReader tablets that it has been working on. The 2 tablets, one “mobile” and one “home”, short for small and big, are code named Galapagos. The home model is a 10.8-inch LCD with a resolution of 1366 x 800, while the mobile version is only 5.5 inches with a 1024 x 600 resolution display.

The new devices will allow to surf the web, view documents, also provides “Automatic Scheduled Delivery Service” for periodical publications, including newspapers and magazines and comes with pre-installed social network service applications. Both devices offer 802.11b/g WiFi connectivity and according Sharp the smaller is optimized for displaying paperback books, while the bigger allows users to enjoy magazines formatted across a two-page spread.

The new Sharp’s Galapagos e-bookstore service is planned to begin in December this year.
