ZTE Tania Budget Windows Phone 7 Launch in UK
Mobile Phones, Technology News, Windows Phone 7 | Vin | January 19, 2012 at 3:51 amBudget smartphone manufacturer ZTE today launches its first Windows Phone in the UK – the ZTE Tania.

ZTE officially became a new hardware partner with Microsoft and its Windows Phone operating system last year when Windows Phone 7.5 –aka Mango – was unveiled. The brand joins HTC, LG, Samsung, Acer and Nokia, though is unique in offering the cheapest handsets out of all these manufacturers, yet offering impressive specifications.
The wallet-pleasing Tania boasts a 4.3-inch touchscreen, though it’s not in the leagues of Samsung’s AMOLED and Super AMOLED screens, instead offering an average resolution of 800 x 480. Under the hood there is a 1GHz processor along with 4GB of storage out of the box, though unfortunately there won’t be a chance to expand upon this as no Micro SD card slot is present.
On the back we have a 5-Megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash and 720p HD video recording. There’s no front-facing camera unfortunately, though there’s currently very few Windows Phones that offer this as it is.
The usual connectivity options are onboard: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth 2.1, HSDPA 14.4 Mbps and GPS. You also have Micro USB and 3.5mm headphone sockets.
There’s nothing out of the ordinary with the ZTE Tania, though you will get the latest Windows Phone experience with the Mango (7.5) operating system. The phone will be available in black or white and will only cost around £10-£20 per month on contract. We’re yet to find out the outright price for customers on pay as you go, though it should be pretty low as far as smartphones go.
If you’ve not heard of ZTE before, we suggest you get familiar. The budget phone maker has been behind some hugely popular phones like the Orange San Francisco and Monte Carlo, as well as the ZTE Skate and Blade. The Chinese manufacturer overtook Apple’s iPhone in sales last year!
